…FibroFraud…Taking the FIB out of fibromyalgia

FibroFraud…Taking the FIB out of fibromyalgia…Because somebody has to…

An advocacy site for those diagnosed with fibromyalgia

Got Fibro?

You have my heartfelt sympathies–because your doctor is most likely a negligent lying snake.

MEDICAL EXPERTS, INCLUDING DOCTORS, ALWAYS SAY THAT ONLY THE PATIENT CAN JUDGE THEIR OWN LEVEL OF PAIN.

Often we are asked to rate the pain on a scale of 1 – 10.  There are no scientifc tests to ‘objectively’ measure pain, so doctors, in theory, are expected to believe what we tell them about our pain.

Apparently, sometimes doctors choose not to believe the patient.

SOMETIMES DOCTORS LABEL SOMEONE IN PAIN AS HAVING “FIBROMYALGIA”.

FIBROMYALGIA IS ESSENTIALLY DEFINED BY DOCTORS AS THE CONDITION OF PAIN BEING PERCEIVED WRONGLY IN THE BRAIN.

…So? You have a brain disease…?

The doctors seem to think so.

DOCTORS WILL TYPICALLY TRY TO TELL YOU THAT YOUR PAIN THRESHOLD IS “TOO” LOW

In other words they are calling you a whimp. (They even said this to me, despite the fact that a few years ago I hobbled to work for two days with a walkiing stick and an untreated badly broken ankle, because I  had an important deadline to meet!)  I mean, how many fibro patients have come through childbearing–more than once–and the docs are now saying you are cowardly about pain?

Heart disease, Stroke, Glaucoma, Parkinsonianism anyone?

FIBRO PATIENTS ARE TYPICALLY “TREATED” WITH OLD, DISCREDITED AND DANGEROUS  ANTIDEPRESSANTS, SUCH AS AMITRIPTYLINE.

Amitrip has recently been shown to increase your risk of heart disease and stroke by 35%.  A single dose of the drug can trigger an episode of acute angle glaucoma in a susceptible individual (my mother lost her sight to this, so I am at high risk).  It can also cause tardive dyskenesia (remember the ‘mad’ people of your childhood, grimacing and shuddering and shuffling around with parkinsonian rigidity. This wasn’t due to insanity, it was due to irreversible neurological damage caused by the drugs these people were given–drugs such as the amitriptyline you have tucked in the back of  your purse.)  My consultant does not care about any of this and still tries to push this poison on to me.

THE WAY THESE ANTIDEPRESSANT DRUGS WORK IS TO ESSENTIALLY MAKE YOU SO GROGGY AND SO FOGGY THAT YOU FAIL TO STILL NOTICE THE PAIN IN YOUR BODY (or if you still do, you are too stoned to bother the doctor about it.)  Why not just prescribe a modern drug designed to treat pain, such as a NSAID, avoiding drowsiness and such drastic side-effects?

IMHO amitrip should be reclassified as a vetinary drug because it tames worried adults into brain-dead sheep (although, seriously, would you willingly feed it to your dog?)

SIDEBAR JOKE:  Why is a  rheumy like Circe (the witch from Homer’s Odyssey)?  Because they both try to fool you into taking stuff that will reduce you to the level of a barnyard animal and make you far easier to handle.

Deals with the devil

Just like animals, fibromyalgia patients are being drugged and trained to shut up and put up.  We cannot give effective consent when we are being treated for a disease that does not exist, and with dangerous drugs which doctors fail to tell us will cause long term and irreversible damge. Drugs which do not even pretend to heal us,  just serve as a chemical cosh.  Thus our human rights are being abused.

Once you have been suckered with the fibro label,  you are denied further tests (in my case tests for autoantibodies, lupus, MS, etc) that would very probably reveal the true cause of your condition, and open the way for real improvements from appropriate  treatment and management, if not a cure.

Effectively, when a doc gives you the fibromyalgia label and you accept it, it is a bit like making a pact with the devil.  If you are too drugged and groggy to think clearly enough even to know whether you are in pain, then what in hell’s name have you done if not sold your soul?

And for what possible benefit to you, your health, your loved ones, or your career?

Real evidence

This blog will highlight the evidence as to why fibromyalgia is always a symptom of something else, and not a disease in its own right.

I will also be reporting on differential diagnoses–what it could be, if it’s not fibromyalgia, and the tests that your doctor should (but probably won’t) be doing to check for other, often very treatable conditions (such as hypothyroidism), that could be the real cause of your symptoms.

I will also be exploring the excesses and abuses of the major drug companies (“Big Pharma”)  and how pressure from them has a bearing on the fibromyalgia fraud.

Work in progress

This blog is very much a work in progress, and I will be updating existing articles with links and other material as often as I can (bear in mind that I am disabled and not always well enough.)  So if you see me making a claim that you think may be unsubstantiated, check back later, as I am likely to have added citations and references that were missing.

FibroFraud: The Book

I was shocked when my research first led me to suspect that my shiny new fibro diagnosis and reassuring packet of pills, were very far from being what the doctor had claimed.  And the more facts I came across, the more shocked–and horrified–I became. So as my stash of material grows, I am hoping to compile it into a handy reference book you can hit your doctor with (not literally, mind, however sorely you may be tempted) when s/he tries to fob you off and B/S you with the fibromyalgia lie.

Questions and Requests

Please post them somewhere on this blog–I have too much spam and too little energy to wade through my emails.  If you need info, or just ammo for an upcoming audience with your rheumy, I’ll try to see what I can do.

So…if NOT fibro, what else could it be..?

Sound familiar..?
